Staffordshire Sub Regional Group
The Staffordshire Sub Regional Group has been in existence since the mid 1990s to manage EU Structural Funds projects across the county. The aim of the Group is:
To focus on European funding and European policy related to funding; in particular, to make the case externally for more European funding for the sub-region and to make the case for organisations to maximise their uptake of available European opportunities.
The main functions of the Group are:
- Raising the profile and capacity of the Staffordshire sub region to engage and deliver on all relevant EU funding opportunities and to provide pro-active communication links for information, dissemination and advice
- To lead on the co-ordination and delivery of all EU funded projects and initiatives and steer Partnership related activities in the Staffordshire sub-region
- To enhance existing and to develop future collaborative networking for mutual benefit between relevant public, private and voluntary /community sector partners, and also with their transnational counterparts across the EU Member States
- To provide a direct interface for the liaison of EU funding and partnership activity between sub-regional partners, GOWM, AWM, West Midlands in Europe Office, EU Connects and Local Government Association
- To keep informed of the work of relevant regional and national groups, by receiving relevant reports and briefings
- To contribute to the development of the appropriate programming documents, projects and intiatives in the Region or affecting the Region
- To implement, monitor and review the objectives and priorities of the Staffordshire Post 2006 Action Plan
- To publicise, promote and support uptake of existing and future European opportunities and any other opportunities and initiatives which are delivered through regional and national agencies such as AWM, Business Link, Learning and Skills Council and Job Centre Plus
- To discuss the impact and benefit of EU funding programmes and intiatives available to the Staffordshire sub-region
- To identify, develop and implement opportunities for the exchanges of best practice across the West Midlands, the UK and EU Member States
